My epic Dax Rush build is nearing completion, or so I think. It is a well-known fact among builders that the last 5% of a build takes almost as long as the first 95%, and it certainly appears to be true for this build. However, not to be deterred and with the Ministry test less than four weeks away, I buckle down and put in the hours. One thing is for sure, even though the men in white coats can be delayed for a few weeks, the car’s debut at the 2009 National Kit Car Motor Show at Stoneleigh cannot. So, with deadlines looming, here’s the latest chapter of my quest to build the ultimate Dax Rush – the CW460.

Fitting the polished header surrounds, a nice touch

High level brake light, more to break up rear panel than for following motorists

LED number plate light

Stunning rear LED lights from Stafford Vehicle Components. Expensive but simple

Masking the rear arch prior to marking rear light holes

That will do!

Step 1: Chain drill

Step 2: Hacksaw blade to remove unwanted material

Step 3: Out it comes

Step 4: Flap wheel used to make a perfect hole

Step 5: Hole in side panel required for wiring loom

Step 6: Phew... what a job

Step 7: Bonded into place and all wired in

Finished job. Now the other side

Fitting the boot box

Offering up front mudguards

Bonded into place
